Transport of piles with printed products

In the production of print products, e.g. magazines, using web offset or gravure printing, the finished magazines are usually stacked on top of each other in a compensating stacker and then packaged in a packaging machine. After the compensating stacker, the stacked printed products are transported to the packaging machine via conveyor belts. Usually, the complete piles are electrostatically charged so that the individual printed products are attracted to each other. As a result, a pile can usually be transported in a stable manner.

Does the electrostatic charge diminish over time?

In the case of printed products with smooth surfaces, many inserts or papers that are too electrically conductive, can lead to unstable piles forming in and after the compensating stacker. In the case of very long conveying distances from the compensating stacker to the palletizer, the electrostatic charge can be weakened or even neutralized after the compensating stacker for the reasons described. The individual printed products can shift or, in extreme cases, the entire pile can slip.

Our solution

To ensure that the electrostatic adhesion of the printed products is maintained, there is the option of subsequent charging. This allows the printed products to be transported in a stable manner for much longer.

Which Eltex components are used?

POWER CHARGER

The POWER CHARGER units cover various performance stages and charging applications. They can be operated either with a supply voltage of 24 V DC or a line voltage in the range of 85 V – 264 V AC. The output voltage is 75 or 150 watts. A membrane keyboard or an optionally available, integrated touch panel is used to control the generators. POWER CHARGER units can be operated using analog operation or via digital fieldbus interfaces. At the market launch, a control system that uses CANopen and ModbusTCP are available.
